Stephen A. Smith got called out on his own show.
Sports radio personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo went off on Smith about his weight during the “What are you mad about” segment on Wednesday’s “First Take” show.
“You know, Stevie? Here’s what I want you to do. We all saw the pictures. We all saw them,” Russo said. “The world saw them. That was not a pretty sight. Head to the gym.
“Did you see those abs? Oh my god. I’d show you mine, but I don’t want to embarrass him. You can eat all the rice, you can eat all the carrots, and drink all the herbal tea you want, you are woefully out of shape. And you are heavy … We all saw it. (Joe) Biden saw it, the world saw it.”
Russo’s comments reference photos of Smith and a mystery woman vacationing in Barbados last month.
The pair were seen lounging on the beach and taking a dip in the ocean, where Smith was captured shirtless.
“You’re right about the picture, if that truly did look like me,” Smith said to Russo. “But it doesn’t matter, cause I can take the heat. I promise you I don’t look like that.”
Russo then challenged Smith to do 20 push-ups on the spot, with ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky betting $100 Smith wouldn’t complete the task.
Co-host Molly Qerim joined the challenge and knocked out her own 20 push-ups before Smith took his turn.
Russo stood and counted as Smith worked to win the challenge.
“This is better than I thought,” Orlovsky said.
“Let’s go SA, you’ve got this,” Qerim cheered from the side.
Smith hit the 20 push-up mark and received an enthusiastic hug from Russo, proving him wrong on air.
“Y’all need to stop, y’all need to stop,” Smith quipped as he walked off set.
